gigon / guyer

the architectural film shows the archaeological museum in kalkriese, designed by gigon / guyer architects. embedded in the landscape of the teutoburg forest lies the museum's steel-clad architecture. it shows the traces of the battle of varus - the battle in which a large part of the roman army fell victim.

alternating sequences of moving images from the usual perspective and drone shots create an interplay of two time axes – the present day and the mystical time of the battle of varus. the mysticism of the past is underlined by abstract soundscapes derived from the materiality of the architecture. in this way, the composition was created that enables the film to develop its narrative thread.
